Now Hiring: Transportation Aide – Route Support Staff

Location: Mercer County, PA
Pay Rate: $16.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–9:30 AM & 1:30 PM–4:00 PM

Abound Health is seeking dependable and caring individuals to join our team as Transportation Aides (Route Support Staff). This role provides on-vehicle support to individuals receiving services during transportation when six (6) or more riders are on a route. While the Transportation Aide does not typically operate the vehicle, they may be asked to drive if needed.

The Transportation Aide plays a vital role in ensuring safety, supervision, and dignity for all passengers while assisting the driver and promoting choice and community integration in compliance with 55 Pa. Code Chapter 6100.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Safety

• Monitor individuals during transport to ensure safety and well-being
• Assist with boarding and exiting, including seat belts, wheelchair tie-downs, and adaptive equipment
• Ensure passengers remain properly secured throughout transport and alert the driver to concerns
• Provide supervision when six (6) or more individuals are on a route, per agency policy
• Conduct visual safety checks of the vehicle interior before, during, and after transport
• Follow all agency transportation policies and Chapter 6100 safety standards

Documentation & Communication

• Complete transportation logs, passenger counts, and incident reports accurately
• Communicate effectively with the driver regarding individual needs or safety concerns
• Coordinate with supervisors, program staff, and families/guardians as appropriate
• Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and Chapter 6100 requirements
